Eternal Dance: The Star Goddess and Self-Love and Unity

Before time itself began, there was only the Abyss—an endless sea of darkness, still and unbroken. Floating within this vast expanse was the Star Goddess, known by many names: God Herself, Hirself, the Boundless Zero.

She was alone, awesome and complete within her self. She was the infinite, and filled with an ever-burning light.

As She gazed into the dark curvature of space, her radiance reflected back at her, dazzling and beautiful. In that moment, she fell deeply, ecstatically in love with herself. Out of this love, she reached within, drawing forth a companion from her very essence. She named her Miria, the Wonderful, a being as luminous and extraordinary as the Goddess Herself.

Together, their love ignited a song—an anthem of creation. It surged outward, a melody of divine ecstasy, rippling through the Abyss. The song wove the first threads of existence, sculpting the formless void into spiraling galaxies, dancing stars, and the intricate web of life. The cosmos was born, a grand tapestry of circles and spheres, woven from the breath of their love.

But love is a force both wondrous and complex, and the currents of creation swept Miria into a journey of transformation. As she drifted further from the embrace of the Star Goddess, her essence began to shift.

First, she became the Blue God, a being of gentle laughter and boundless affection, whose joy lit the stars. Then, she transformed into the Green One, rooted in the fertile earth, the spirit of all things that grow. Finally, she became the Horned God, a hunter blazing with the fire of the sun and the mysteries of death. Though she changed, her heart remained tethered to the Star Goddess, yearning for reunion.

So, Miria began her eternal dance, circling the Star Goddess in an endless quest for love. Their movements formed the rhythm of the cosmos, the ebb and flow of life itself. All that began in love seeks to return to love, for love is the law, the teacher, and the great revealer of mysteries.

The Star Goddess breathes in, and all creation contracts. She breathes out, and everything expands. Her breath is the pulse of existence, connecting all living things. We, too, are part of this dance, reflections of her beauty and bearers of her divine breath.

She is beyond gender, encompassing all and none. She is the Cosmic Egg, the infinite circle that holds everything within it.

Nuit and Hadit, yesh and ayin, form and void—all are but facets of her boundless being. To know her is to see the interconnectedness of all things, to feel the unifying power of love.

In this eternal cycle, there is no beginning and no end. The energy of Miria, like all things, journeys back to the Star Goddess. Along the way, it transforms: from the wise Crone to the nurturing Mother, and finally to the wild and unbridled Girl-Child. Each stage is distinct, yet all are one, each a part of the infinite dance that returns to the Source.

The Star Goddess is both immanent and transcendent. She is the earth beneath our feet and the stars above.

She whispers in the wind, glimmers in the sunlight, and pulses in our very breath. She is honored in sacred prayer: “Holy Mother, in Whom we live, move, and have our being. From You all things emerge, and unto You all things return.”

And so, the story of the Star Goddess, of God Herself, unfolds eternally—a tale of love and creation, of unity and transformation. This sacred myth is not confined to the stars or the distant past; it is alive within the very fabric of existence, a timeless dance that beckons us to remember our place within it. In her breath, we find the pulse of the cosmos, and in her love, the thread that connects all living things. Her story is both the origin and the destination, reminding us that we are reflections of her divine beauty, bound by the law of love.

The Star Goddess invites us to turn inward, to the home of the heart, where her love dwells within each of us. Her tale is an eternal call to rediscover the radiant light within ourselves, to fall back in love with the essence of who we are. As she gazed into the darkness and saw her own reflection, so too can we find in our own depths a wellspring of infinite love and potential. This is the wisdom of the Star Goddess: that we are not separate from the divine, but part of its endless dance, eternally worthy of the love we seek.

The creation story of the Star Goddess, often called God Herself, or the genderless “Hirself” can trace it’s roots back to Cretica by the 6th Century (BCE) Greek poet and seer Epimenides of Knossos.1 This story, in it’s many versions, has evolved from poet and philosopher, Victor Andersen’s original words. As a source of creation, the story of the Star Goddess is a foundation for the Neo-Pagan traditions of Feri (founded by Andersen) and it’s sister, Reclaiming.
